Want to know one of the practical joys of characters in literature?
Can you guess? Maybe not.
It may be a pleasure peculiar to me, but I doubt it.
The chief delight in having books full of delightful people?
You can go to a costume party as one of them. :)
I am headed off in a couple of minutes for a Lord of the Rings costume party--I'm going as Rosie Cotton, the hobbit-lass who marries the ever-faithful Sam Gamgee:
Ah, yes. I'm laced into a hunter-green vest, I'm wearing snowy white blouse, an even snowier apron, and a plaid skirt. My hair is curlier than curly. I look exactly like a hobbit, and I'm even going barefoot! :) I fully intend to have a ball playing at being sweet Rosie for the night. That, dear writers, is one good reason to create loveable characters. :)

Yay for Rosie Cotton... and Samwise Gamgee, of course, my favorite LOTR character! I bet your costume's awesome, I'd love to see a photo... (not-so-subtle hint... ;) Anyway, I hope you have a blast - a LOTR costume party sounds epic! :)
How fun! :-)
I wholeheartedly agree with you! I love Lord of the Rings and wish we had a costume ball near us.
