"A Fireside Song"

"A Fireside Song"
By Me!
"Give me a log upon the hearth
Give me a kindred soul
And the hours will pass like sand through a glass
For my pleasure shall be made whole."
When the dusk is purpling the meadow,
And the garden's an amethyst hue,
Then is the time I'll sing you this rhyme-
Just me and nearby just you.
We'll speak of the ferns in the hollow,
We'll speak of dramas and art,
Of books and a friend, and the fire will lend
A warmth as you share your heart.
The words we speak in the firelight
The dreams we dare to say
Area echoed back by the flames that crack
In a noble and golden way.
"Give me a log upon the hearth
Give me a kindred soul,
And the hours shall pass like sand through a glass
For my pleasure shall be made whole."
I wrote this for The King's Daughter. There you go lassie! :) -Rachie

O that was good =D I liked it! But now it reminds me of a friend of mine because of the word kindred...=]

Just a little note... you don't have to publish this... but on your 'Why I Write' page, you said that Mr. Harrison told Anne to write about the people and places that she knows and cares about. Well, I think it was actually Gilbert that told her that. Just thought I'd point it out. :)

Yes, there has been some confusion on that point. First, I had "Gilbert" written, but then, a friend pointed out that to truly be literary, I must write "Mr. Harrison" because in the books it is Mr. Harrison that says it. So I changed it to the lesser known speaker of that immortal quote! ;) -Rachel

Oh, I didn't know that. That is very interesting. :) I haven't read most of the books, but my sister has, so most of what I know about Anne of Green Gables is from the movies and what my sister has told me. :)
