Anon, Sir, Anon: Release Day & A "Velly British" Giveaway

My dear chaps and chappesses. Today marks an epoch in my life. I have gone from a published writer of comical, cozy romance (Fly Away Home, Five Glass Slippers) to a published writer of comical, cozy mystery. Or something like that. I am absolutely thrilled to share this book with you. I think it is my best work to-date, and that is a nice thought to have. One likes to know one's writing improves each time. I know so many of you have been watching this book's progress from the start, and now it is time: you can have it in spades. Or at least in print and e-book formats. Links and so forth to where you might purchase such things are as follows:

And then we come to the giveaway. Because obviously it's a lame thing to have a party without presents, and never let a blight be put upon the head of Rachel Heffington for forgetting presents at a party. Etiquette must be observed, precedents have been set, etc. Thus, I give you the Quagmire Party Pack. This delightful little prize includes

One $5 Panera-bread gift-card for bread to toast
One box P.G. Tips black tea (only the best can be paired with sourdough toast)
One small Yankee candle for atmosphere
One matchbook
One copy Anon, Sir, Anon to be read at said cozy party

Win this prize, and you'll be able to host an evening worthy of Vivi, Farnham, and Dr. Breen.
So waste no time and go ahead and enter below!

Each day this week I will be appearing at various places around the blogosphere to chat about the book, answer questions, write on various topics, and spill my guts to the public (kidding about that last bit). The schedule today is:
"Triumph: Follow Your Gut" a conversation at Rachel Rossano's Words

Cheers, darlings!

Oh, and my favorite thing about autumn is the smell of the leaves. So yummy. =)

I'm so excited that the fifth is finally here! I had a quick question: When, for the giveaway, you say write a review do you mean for "Anon, Sir, Anon"?

Favorite thing about autumn: the weather. I love the cooler temperatures, the fact that I need a jacket when I go outside. It's good weather for snuggling. I love the crisp air and the gusty winds.
Other things that I like: the colors (leaves and such), the way the sky looks in the fall, the smells, the feeling of joy in the harvest and settling in for the winter. It's so cozy.

Nearly forgot!
Favorite thing about Autumn--
Pumpkin pie with whipped cream. (Yum)
You have so many lovely quotable bits in your books! But so far, this is one of my favorites: "Sure, at heart I wanted to be a Dickens, but I hated being great on command."

Ghost: A review of any of my books is perfectly great!

I tip my hat to you Rach, I don't think I have the brains to write a mystery. I am so thrilled for you!

My favorite thing about autumn is the fact that everyone likes to cozy up and read and watch movies.

My favorite thing about Autumn? Nearly everything, considering it is my favorite month. :) I have to admit what I love most is that specific autumn *smell* and the breezes and cooler weather we finally start to get.

I follow, and I also wrote a review of Fly Away Home here: http://atreeabookandabreeze.blogspot.com/2014/03/fly-away-home.html

Congratulations!! This is so exciting! I know what's going on my Christmas wishlist. =D
My favorite thing about fall is the crisp air—perfect for wearing sweaters, what?

Unknown said...

Extending my sincerest congratulations, Rachel! I am sitting on pins-and-needles waiting to read "Anon, Sir, Anon" (Christmas needs to arrive. O.o) and I am so very happy for you. Three cheers and a jug of cider!

Speaking of which, I have far too many favourite loves about Autumn to list them all but on the top would be:

• The weather. (All crisp, ice-sharp, breath-deep and invigorating.)
• The enhanced beauty of the countryside--even the City takes on an almost Fairytale aura!
• Pumpkin Spice Coffee. (need I say more?)

Also, I already follow your blog, and would possessing a kindle copy of one of your books count as "owning" it? One could always take a screenshot, I suppose...

Rachel Heffington said...

Annie: it would count! :)

Hayden said...

I own a copy of Fly Away Home, but I don't have an instagram or twitter- would it be okay if I pinned a pic of myself with the book on pinterest?

Rachel Heffington said...

Hayden: Perfectly all right! :)

A favourite quote:

“Because prayer is the best way to set a wrong thing right again. Admitting I don't have the answers. Asking the One who does for a bit of clarity. Putting myself back in my proper place in the universe.”

1) I follow your blog! 2) My favorite thing about Autumn is the leaves, the cold noses, and the nostalgia. 3) There are many, many quotes from your books that I love, but this is probably my favorite as well: "Sure, at heart I wanted to be a Dickens, but I hated being great on command."

Congratulations on ANON, SIR, ANON's release, Rach. ^.^ It's seriously my favorite of your stories yet.

Emily Chapman said...

Oh, I also reviewed ANON, SIR, ANON on my blog . . . http://www.emilychapmanauthor.com/2014/10/anon-sir-anon-review.html

My favorite thing about autumn would be the bittersweet emotions that ran rampant in the air- as if the leaves are whispering their brilliant, final farewell and I can't help but feel a little sad, and yet stand in awe of the beauty around me.

Hanna-col said...

Hooray! Hooray! And congratulations! I am very excited about the release of "Anon, Sir, Anon".

My favorite thing about autumn would have to be when the leaves change color.

Joy said...

Is this giveaway open to international readers, Rachel?

I am so excited about the release of Anon, Sir, Anon! Congratulations, dear girl! ^_^

Oooh, and I own a copy of Fly Home, and wrote a review for "Anon, Sir, Anon". . . will have to see if I can leave the links soon!

Hanna-col said...

Oh, I think my favorite quote would have to the one on not liking being Dickens on demand. I believe writers can sympathize heartily with Callie on that one. There was another one I really liked but I could not find it when I skimmed through the pages looking for it.

By the way, I own "Fly Away Home" but I have neither a Twitter account or an Instagram. Is there another way I can do that particular entry?

Aaaaah that is so exciting! Congrats!!!!

And my favorite thing about autumn is the smell--it's like apples and crunchy leaves and warmish coldish weather and hot cider and pumpkins and all that wrapped up into one. :-)

Unknown said...

I am so excited to read your new book! I pre-ordered it on Kindle, but I always would really love a paper copy to love and to cherish. ;)
This giveaway sounds great! Fingers crossed!

Unknown said...

And my favorite thing about Autumn is comfy oversized sweaters and new ankle boots. Fall fashion is the best! (Some warm tea also brightens up a fall day considerably.)

Rachel Heffington said...

Hanne-col, I know *you* own it, so that's enough for me. I'll "confirm" your entry myself. :)
Maddie Rose: Thank you so much for the pre-order! :)

Oh goodness, favorite thing about Autumn? Sweaters, large cups of tea and cocoa, stacks and stacks of books to read during Thanksgiving and fall break, knowing it's only a month or so before CHRISTMAS!, long walks in the leaves, changing colors, tall socks, scarves, beanies to keep ya' head warm, winter coats, rosy cheeks, no humidity ;), and so much more :)

Oh and some of my favorite quotes from Anon, Sir, Anon:

"Bang clever people" (184).

Genevieve was unsure how to respond; she grabbed for
the topic quite literally at hand: “Where should I put my
things?”
“In a corner.” His response cracked out with militant
alacrity and a passing frown.
“Which corner?” she pressed quietly.
His face eased into a waggish smirk. “Haven’t the foggiest.
House so bang full of ‘em. Allen would know.” He shoved his
hands into his cardigan pockets and hunched his thin
shoulders (15).

“Bang brilliant.” He nodded his head slow and thoughtful,
and his eyes flickered over Genevieve's right shoulder. “Oh,
what luck. Here’s the soul of Whistlecreig now. Hail hearty ho,
Allen, what light from yonder window breaks? (16)"

>> I am kind of attached to your use of bang, it comes at the most brilliant and appropriate times.

I have yet to read it but this quote from Fly Away Home is so wonderful: "Sure, at heart I wanted to be a Dickens, but I hated being great on command.”

First - super congratulations on your book!! :D

And what I like about autumn...the swirling, scattered leaves, and cold wind, and first frosts, warm cups of tea, the feeling of anticipating something and everything and nothing all at once, the fact that I write best during autumn, probably because it somehow awakens the imagination.....and jean jackets and boots and scarves and warm long winter coats and not frying to death when I leave my hair down....and I am purposefully quitting here....

Abby said...

So glad it's out! Cannot wait to read it. My favorite thing about autumn. Hmm... I like the temperature and the colors.

Lady Bibliophile said...

Alrighty! Here goes... My favorite thing about autumn is definitely apple cider. It tastes so good, tangy and sweet and cold. I also love the cozy darkness that encourages thick books (or cozy mysteries!) and warm sweaters.

I follow the Inkpen Authoress!

And I'm leaving a review on Amazon of Anon, Sir, Anon.

My favorite thing about autumn is the beauty of the leaves as they change from green to gold, crimson & orange. God has given us such wonder of beauty to behold. I also enjoy the smell of leaves being burnt.
